Asana –

Each of the 12 components work on the unmanifest layer, the avyakta. Anything done in the level of the manifested expression, matter, does not stay permanently. Anything done on the level of the unmanifest existence stays permanently.
The 12 components of Yoga are:

Aligning the spine and body to the cosmic geometry. Directly sourced from the ancient Yogic scriptures with detailed descriptions, and explanation of the benefits and techniques.

Pranayama –

The practice of breathing without thoughts being awakened is called the science of Pranayama. When there are more thoughts, the breath will carry less life-energy (Prana), and vice versa. Unfortunately, most of the time one takes in too much air without much prana flowing inside.

Mudra –

There is a constant inflow of energy happening in our bodies through nadis (channels of energy flow) and chakras (energy centers in the body). But much of it gets dissipated into the external world, which causes the feeling of tiredness, confusion and powerlessness. Mudras refer to the positioning of the limbs, fingers or even the tongue in a certain way to seal the prana into our body, a way of aligning to the cosmic geometry. They stimulate the flow of prana, the life-force energy, inside us. The Vedic scriptures (Shastras) review the layers of benefits of mudras, from health and longevity, to the ultimate experience of transcending our limiting cognitions we carry as human beings.

Bandha –

Bandha is nothing but internal organs pushed into intra organs, to intensely activate the intra organs. Every bandha is nothing but sucking that part of that internal organ, and push it into the intra organ. If you suck both the eyes and push it into the third eye, it is called Trinetra Bandha. If you suck both the butt and push it into the muladhara, it’s called Mulabandha.

Visualization –

Visuals aid to bring deeper experience in each asana. In the science of Yoga, context and intention is everything. Why you bend the body matters. For every intention you move the body, that experience will be delivered to you. In every asana, it is important to maintain a strong visualization of that asana. When we keep a strong visualization of the form we are embodying, the body can settle into the depth experience of each and every posture.

Chanting –

External verbalization of mantras. Mantra is a sanskrit word that describes a sacred utterance, a sound, a syllable, or a group of words. A mantra has spiritual power with or without syntactic or literal meaning. A disciple needs to be initiated into a mantra by his Guru, using the right procedures (mantra deeksha) for the mantra to have its maximum potency for that individual. It is given by the Guru and received by the disciple with gratitude and respect. The goal is to focus more and more on the subtle sound. By abandoning the thoughts, a yogi learns to listen to the nada. Nada is the sound which is based on the premise that the entire cosmos consists of sound vibration. That is why, in Nithyananda Yoga, the sanskrit pramanas (scriptural references from the source texts) are continuously chanted out loud.

Japa –

Internal verbalization of mantras specifically added into the flow to bring the depth of experience, with the visualization of the mantra rotating around the throat in a circular way, allowing the yogi to feel the mild vibration of that mantra. During the japa, wear an energized rudraksha bead in the hollow of the throat, exactly in the vishuddhi chakra. This is the place where the air gets converted to sound. This makes every word coming out have the coat of that mantra.
Bija mantras, also called seed mantras, refers to the single syllable mantras used to invoke certain deities. Bija mantras correlate to the specific chakras as we engage them, amplifying their power.

The whole universe is made out of these two – sound and light. Means verbalization and visualization. Mahadeva represents light (bindu), Devi represents sounds (nada). When these two – nada bindu – unite, the universe happens. Science of Sri Vidya, the ultimate knowledge, is the knowledge of using sound and light and achieving the space of Shivoham. That is why powerful sounds are used (chants of mantras) and in a very powerful way lines (visualizations and geometrical forms) are used.

Karana –

Karana can be defined as the combined movement of arms and legs in a dance. It is not a static pose, it is an action. Legend says that Shiva used to dance every evening and his dance consisted of the 108 karanas. The expression of his cosmic dance is called nata yoga.

Mandala –

Fundamental shapes and sacred geometries that represent the fundamental energies in the cosmos. The human body is an embodiment of the cosmos itself. Mandalas representing the cosmos, and yantras representing particular deities, correspond to the internal structure of retinal and geniculate cells. Their construction is based on the Tantric seers’ intuitive knowledge of the mind’s nature, its relationship with the subtle channels of energy (nadis) in the body, and the human need for a symbolic life.

Combination of the two, mandala and mantra, helps the yogi performing the yoga, to transcend the normal frame of reference and achieve a higher state of awareness, in which the individual being and the universal being are one.

Abharanam –

Each metal or jewel holds a certain energy and provides a specific benefit when worn. Rudraksha jewelry is the traditional abharana worn while performing the Yoga ritual. As the manifestation of the tear drop from Sadashiva’s Third Eye, the rudraksha energy bead is able to hold and radiate energy unlike any other stone. The sundarabharanam are the traditional rudraksha earrings which provide balance to the body as well as increase the space of listening in the yogi. Wearing the rudraksha necklace on the vishuddhi chakra (throat chakra) as the kantha mala given by the Guru, radiates the energy of the mantra initiated by the Guru, acting as a mechanized japa for the yogi.

Weight lifting –

Long before the rise of modern body building methods, weights were applied to the body as a method to raise kundalini, expand one’s consciousness, and connect to the divine, Paramashiva. That is why HDH Paramahamsa Nithyananda says- ” weight lifting is a spiritual quality”. He has shared how this science of raising consciousness by weight lifting was lived by the Natha sampradaya yogis, who used weights in combination with their yoga practice. From heavy stones to wooden logs, weight lifting is not something new to the Vedic tradition. Adding weights with yoga will completely heal the whole body in multiple dimensions.

Aushada –

Sadashiva explained herbs have to be taken in. There are certain sacred herbs which enter the body and raise the state of consciousness or raises you to the other planes of the universe. There are four primary Aushada processes that Sadashiva gives for raising you to different dimensions of the universe, and making you manifest the state, space and powers of Sadashiva.
